Costs
So this page is a fair bit of work. We are back at it, just the two of us and we began to summarize again on November 1, 2014 Felt like a rough month, lots of miles and half of it in hotels. Too many restaurants. Well, it is updated.
We intend to fully share our monthly expenses for food, transportation, lodging and entertainment. You can judge it for yourself if you can repeat our activities yourself, in part or whole. Soon we will fill in and keep up to date the fields below showing actual expenses beginning May 15, 2013. **On September 8, 2013, our 21 year old daughter has joined us on this adventure. There is a corresponding jump in our expenses. If you deduct a third from groceries, restaurants, entertainment and miscellaneous expenses, that is our estimated cost for the two of us. We have started booking only two bedrooms (which we would not do if it were just the two of us) and that adds a little extra expense. If you are looking at how you could do as a couple then my deductions for Lex should help you. October was a fun and busy month for us: Blanchard Caverns, Zip line, Go-Karts X 2, two Branson shows, Ripley’s believe it or not, Jack Daniels Tour, and The Grand Ole Opry, and still under our $3,000 budget – deducting 1/3 for Lex. We are not adding car repairs or new tires to this. Our Prius is running great but we do think about getting another, larger car, and if we do, we won’t add our car payment to the budget. February – New York blew our budget. Hotels and expensive restaurants. ( It’s New York.) Boy it was fun though.

I am curious as to how you can make your reservations for the whole year ahead without having to pay the charges upfront. What I mean is, when we buy an extra week or schedule a trip, we have to pay for the trip in advance. Doesn’t that mess up your monthly balance?? Are you paying all these weeks in advance or are you able to schedule and pay when you go?
Angie, you are exactly right. We pay when we book. To have the costs reflect actual expenses, we add what we have already paid for at the time that we actually use the reservation. So, as for rooms, we are currently paid up through next February. But we don’t reflect all those costs until we checkin for the week.

Thanks for your quick reply. Now it makes more sense to me. I enjoy reading your blog. We currently timeshare about 5 or 6 weeks a year (own 4 timeshare weeks) and always enjoy our stays.
