Fargo, ND to Bismark, ND – 5/7/2017
May 7, 2017 (Sunday)
The drive today was a straight shot across Highway 94 from Fargo to Bismarck, North Dakota – about 200 miles. The weather was downright hot (high 80’s). The ride was pretty much the same – not a lot to see except the road, some water, that’s about it. No real hills or trees.
When we got into Bismarck, we went to a laundromat that got good ratings and it lived up to the them. Other than being a little expensive ($3.50 per load of wash and $2.00 per load of dry), it was newer, nice, and interesting in that there were signs about no oil rig clothing allowed, etc. Funny. I had forgotten how close we were to the pipe line and all the oil field stuff that was so big just a few years ago. It was worth it to us to pay a little more for clean washing machines that had no issues.
We were getting hungry and wanted to go to the Cracker Barrel and have dinner, and also to turn in the books on tape we had just finished – “The Wright Brothers” by David McCullough. Michael enjoyed it more than I did but I did enjoy hearing all the historical stuff. Also easier to envision Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk since we had been there. We wanted to get another book on tape since we have several more long days of driving. When we got to the exit for the Cracker Barrel, we decided on going to the Texas Roadhouse nearby instead. Michael got chicken and I got a steak. I normally don’t like to eat red meat (or much meat of any kind) but I’ve been tired and it just sounded good, and it was.
We got into our home for the next two nights – Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott (booking.com for about $65.00 a night). It’s spacious, clean, and comfortable.
That was our day, hope yours was great.
