Williamsburg, VA – 3/13-17/2017

Mike here – I have given Edie a little time off.  We lazed and grazed for the week, caught up on several things we’ve been dragging with us; got the car serviced; tried to finish the taxes, not quite yet.  We did a few blog-worthy activities:

Duck donuts.  Need a half million to buy a franchise.  We are a few bucks short and would have to sell the house.  I think it is a money maker though.

We luckily limited ourselves to just two visits. The first we each had one donut. The second we each had two. Afraid to go back for a third visit.
They have a donut machine that drops the donut shaped batter in hot oil and it floats and cooks and a rack flips it at just the right time. It comes out golden brown and hot.
Then they dip it in the frosting of your desire and put toppings of all sorts and drizzle of your choosing. So melt in your mouth good.
Edie’s donuts with lemon frosting and powdered sugar, and a glazed with raspberry drizzle.
They say 210 calories each. I think that is a little light. I had chocolate frosting with peanuts and a plain maple icing.

We got a certificate worth $30.00 (from our Wyndham Patriot’s Place timeshare presentation) to eat at one of several restaurants.  We chose Sal’s by Victor.

The table got bread and Edie got her beloved garlic bread, more than she bargained for.
Edie had a garden salad.
Scallop salad. Tasty, but a little under cooked to my taste.
I got fries with my salad.

Lastly, Edie was surfing the net and found a restaurant that intrigued her.  She took me because she thought I’d really like it.  She is a very clever person.  I really liked the theme of the place, the food almost didn’t matter.  It’s called “Food For Thought.”

At Food For Thought they sell wonderful t-shirts with great sayings..

They have wonderful, thoughtful and very educational graphics.
One of my personal favorites.
Posters you can get lost in reading.
Wonderful Michelangelo quote.
One of two really fun painting prints. This one is sold out. I make out left to right: Teddy Roosevelt, George W Bush, Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush, Ike, Ron Reagan, A Lincoln and Dick Nixon.
Two of two wonderful paintings. They sell the print for $29.00. I see left to right: LBJ, Barack Obama, FDR, H Truman, B Clinton, J Carter, T Jefferson, W Wilson, and JFK.
“Look to this one day, for it is life.” I really like this one.
Edie’s California BLT on a croissant. She enjoyed it a lot and made two meals out of it.
It is St. Pat’s day, what can I say, it was okay.

That was our week, hope yours was great.
