Carlsbad, CA to Sierra Vista, AZ – 2/8/2017

February 8, 2017 (Wednesday)

Long drive day – wayyyyyyy looooooong. Too long. The drive today was a little over 500 miles to Sierra Vista, Arizona. We went through the part of 1-8 that Michael really likes – the part that is all rocks and quite lovely.

It is a lovely green that won’t last long as we head east.
Growing something deep purple or red here.
I love these rocks and I think the form they take from weatherization, freezing, cracking, ending up being rounded.
Sand dunes, should rent a sand rail one day and play.
We got excited when we saw this sign.
Good bye California for awhile.
Weather has been great.

We stopped in Yuma at the Cracker Barrel to have linner. I got some of their pinto beans and broccoli. Michael got his pinto beans and turnip greens. Yummy.

Got some turnip greens and cornbread.

Michael took over driving and I took a little nap. When I woke up I mentioned how dark it was. Michael looked at me and laughed, called me a goof and said to take off my sunglasses. Didn’t help that much but it wasn’t as dark as it was.

We got into our room at the Quality Inn, Sierra Vista. Very nice, older but nice.

Miss the resorts.
Standard.
Motels…standard.

That was our day. Hope yours was great!
