Oceanside to Carlsbad, California – 2/6/2017
February 6, 2017 (Monday)
We checked out of our most comfortable and beautiful room at the Wyndham Oceanside Pier Resort. We weren’t sure what we were going to do until we checked into the Hilton Marbrisa Vacation Club, as checkin said it was at 4 PM.
We decided to go to a store and get some cards to mail, and then to the post office to mail the cards. The weather was ugly and raining. Very grey and depressing. While we were doing our running around, we got a call from Kristy at the Hilton Marbrisa. She said if we wanted to come to the resort and put our name on the list, we might be able to check in early. We went by around 11 AM and were able to get right into our spectacular room. It’s brand new and beautiful. I thought we were getting a hotel studio but we got a one bedroom. Very modern, sleek, and spacious.
After check in we talked to Kristy (our concierge) and got some gift cards for food instead of Sea World or Legoland. She also went over some other things and discounts that we could use. She was very nice and very informative. We’ll probably see her tomorrow morning at the timeshare presentation I’m sure. (Part of the great deal we got on the room – $218 for two nights, plus a $100 refund coupon on future Hilton stay, plus $100 in gift cards – was that we had to attend a timeshare presentation.)
We went to our room – like I said – absolutely beautiful. I took a nap and Michael watched some television.
We got up and went to the restaurant for which we had gotten some gift cards. We wanted to go early because we’re supposed to have a conference call with Aaron and Arla about a business plan for them. The restaurant was called Vigilucci’s Italian, which was only about 2 miles away.
We found it and it was quaint and cozy, yet had some modern features like a red waterfall wall. Our server was wonderful and answered all our questions.
Michael ordered a huge platter of food with a little bit of everything – meat, chicken, sausage, baked potato, mixed vegetables, and fresh spinach.
I ordered a salad with pears and feta cheese, as well as a vegetable ravioli.
While we were waiting for our food, the server brought fresh bread with oil and vinegar. The bread was hot and wonderful. We got to sit and watch the pelicans fly by on their way to who knows where. The restaurant was right across the street from the ocean with a lovely view.
The food arrived and it was so good. Neither Michael nor I could eat all of it. I didn’t want to eat all of mine because part of the goodies we got was a free dessert from here, a crème brulee. The crème brulee was really good and just enough for the two of us.
We got back to the resort and drove around a little. There is quite a bit of construction going on, and not sure if Legoland is close by but we know that it says there is a private way to get there from here. We saw the workout room and the path to one of the pools. We also saw where we can walk up a back way to the lobby area for the timeshare presentation in the morning (if it’s not still raining).
That was our day. Hope yours was great!
