Oceanside, California – 2/4/2017

February 4, 2017 (Saturday)

Had to get up early for the timeshare presentation. Yuck, but we’ve been getting up a little earlier so it wasn’t as hard. Michael did make us some coffee before we left. Headed downstairs and did the paperwork and waited. Our lady, Stephanie, came out to greet us. Nice lady. She showed us into the presentation room and made sure we received our breakfast we had ordered. The presenter, Jesse, came and gave his speel for about twenty minutes. He was the same guy that gave it last time I was here. He’s very knowledgeable but quick.

After the presentation we went into Stephanie’s cubicle and talked. She could not get over the fact that we pay cash for our Extra Vacations weeks but would not be willing to put that cash into buying points with Wyndham. We tried to explain that we didn’t want maintenance fees forever. Anyway, after just a little over an hour we parted, got our goodies and left.

Check in at the presentation.

We went directly down to the parking lot and went to a local Ralph’s grocery store. Lovely drive and got to see different parts of Oceanside. After Ralph’s we went to a Dollar Tree to get a few things. Enjoyed being out and about for just a short time. We had hoped my friend’s family would drop by but they had a recital to go to. She invited us but Michael wanted to work on the taxes.

We got back to our room and took a nap. Can’t believe how tired Michael and I are. Not sure what’s going on but…once we got up (around 3:30 PM) we walked across the street and down the pier (over half a mile) to Ruby’s Restaurant. The wait time was about thirty minutes so we just walked around and enjoyed seeing the fishermen and the strange people. There was one guy (I called him pumpkin head because he was wearing a bright orange cap) running with his shirt up but with each step he yelled out really loud. It was like a combination run and scream for karate. Very interesting. We also saw a huge pelican just chilling on the guard rail.

Looking at a ways to go to get to Ruby’s.
Looking back at the ground we’ve covered.
May be one of the most photographed Pelicans around.
This is a beautiful Pelican.
His pale blue eyes popped in person, the blue gets lost with the water behind.

Once we got inside, we got a window seat. Michael ordered a hamburger and I got lettuce wraps, fries, and a root beer float. Very good. We used the Visa gift card we had just received from Wyndham for payment, plus got our 10% discount for staying at the Wyndham. While we were eating, Michael kept saying do you feel that? He kept feeling swaying like on a ship. I didn’t really feel it until we were sitting there and it felt like a huge earthquake and the whole place swayed. I looked around and saw people’s eyes getting big and everyone wondering if we were going to be thrown into the ocean. Very exciting. I don’t think I would want to work out on a wharf that is about half a mile out into the ocean.

She got her root beer float.

Our selfie, Edie was tired.

We went back to our room and started working on the blog, and Michael started working on our taxes. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
