Isla Cozumel to Isla Mujeres – 1/25/2017

January 25, 2017 (Wednesday)

Today was all about planes, trains, and automobiles. Well, really about ferries, taxis, and buses. We checked out of our Cozumel home and got on the ferry (Ultramar) to Playa del Carmen. Glad that this ferry ride was nice and calm and no one was throwing up (that we noticed or heard).

Nice murals.
The shopping gauntlet en route to the ferry.
Getting ready to board.
Ultramar was actually packed. Cozumel to Playa Del Carmen.

Once in Playa del Carmen, we got on the ADO bus (65 pesos per person) to Cancun, then a taxi (100 pesos) to the ferry terminal. The ferry to Isla Mujeres was 200 pesos per person. Quite the journey but we made it with the help of Aaron and Arla knowing kinda what and where to go.  It was pretty easy. The bus system in the Cancun/Playa del Carmen area is pretty darn good and the buses are really nice.

Took the bus from Playa Del Carmen to Cancun.
The buses are nice.
Our ADO bus is a stick shift. It is entertaining watching our driver maneuver in some really tight places.
The ADO bus was very nice, well air conditioned and comfortable.
More comfortable this time.
Our Ultramar ferry from Cancun to Isla Mujeres, (Island of Women).

Once on the island, we had dinner and then Aaron and Arla checked into a hostel they had used when they were here before. They (and we) thought a separation might be good by this time of the trip. We missed them but knew they were just a short distance away.

The streets are so narrow, a golf cart is really all you want to rent.
A theme for Edie and I.
I like places that feel the need to put philosophical things on the wall.
I am tiring of chips and guacamole.
I had a plate of spaghetti and it was delicious.
The Hostel where Aaron and Arla stayed.
Checking in at the hostel.
Private beach at the hostel.

Michael and I took a taxi to the Worldmark resort, which was a little ways down (or up) the island. It is shared with the yacht club and is very nice. Our unit (king studio) had a hammock outside and a great view of the beautiful pool with swim up bar. Really nice place.

Waterway for yachts viewed from the check in lobby.
Lovely pool.
Edie’s hammock.
Lower level has a watermelon slice table.
Very comfortable king bed.
Nice veranda furniture.
Edie really like the huge tub.
A nice couch that became the kids bed on the second night.
I really like this small chest of drawers. The fronts are open lattice. Nice and airy in this humid environment.
Nice vanity.
Nice bathroom.
Shutters, screens and a glass door.
The colored tubes have lights in the bottoms which we thought were neat until they started blinking in the night and we ended up turning off the circuit breaker to make them stop.
A little fridge.
I really liked the textured plaster art.
The pool with the swim up bar.

We were pretty tired from the long travel day so pretty much crashed. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
