Isla Cozumel, Mexico – 1/24/2017

January 24, 2017 (Tuesday)

We were told by Alex to be ready at 10:30 AM for the snorkel tour. Alex started rounding us up at around 10:00 AM to go get our wetsuit, fins and mask. After that he drove us to the boat and introduced us to Peter, our snorkel guide. We got going and we went to five different snorkel areas. What a beautiful underwater world there is. I had a little trouble with my mask and Peter saw I was struggling and had me use another one. After that I was finally able to see without fighting and was able to fully enjoy the experience. So very beautiful. We saw so many colorful fish, purple coral fans, underwater shipwreck – so much and so wonderful. Loved all of it. So glad we opted for the private tour ($45.00 US per person) rather than the ones the cruise ships were using as we saw them being rushed around while we were still out enjoying. Also, we got to see five different spots.

Arla figuring out how to work Edie’s cell phone in the underwater float plastic bag.
The boy ditched his fins quickly and swam like he does in the triathlons.
Wow, Arla managed to photograph a great white.
Grumpy and the boy.
Pretty woman off on her own.
A couple of water dogs!
Pretty woman with her face in the water, Aaron and grumpy clearing their masks.
Aaron and Arla with Peter.
End of the snorkel trip, time to head in.
Out of the wet suits.
Nice mural as we walk to Sr Frogs..

The tour provided water and sandwiches (not vegan so the kids were getting hangry). At the end of the tour we were dropped off at the downtown near the ferry terminal and headed straight for somewhere to eat to calm the beasts. We ended up at Senor Frogs because our host, Alex, told us to use his name and we would get free drinks, which we did. We each got free margaritas and then got some chips and guacamole. The guacamole in Mexico is just so good.  The kids and Michael had an entree, I had dessert for dinner.

Oh good, more guac.
We got free drinks at Sr Frog’s because we snorkeled with Alex.
Pretty woman’s dinner.
I had a burrito, which you don’t see a lot of those here.
The vegans ate well.
Mostly vegan options and they are delicious.

We decided to walk back home, which took quite awhile but was very interesting. We walked through all sorts of areas, some clean and expensive looking and others dirty and run down. We were tired by the time we got back to our home. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
