Xcaret, Mexico – 1/20/2017

January 20, 2017 (Friday)

Ramz told us he gave us great Xcaret tickets but we were doubtful. He told us how and where to go once we got into the park.  We found parking and went to the location Ramz told us. A nice young woman helped us and told us we had a buffet lunch included, a locker included, and several other nice perks. Ramz was right in that these were very expensive tickets (something like $150.00 US per person).

We went inside and went straight to the lockers to put all our stuff away. After that we decided to do the 45 minute float down the cenote/river (after we got a life jacket). Cold getting into the river but once in it was pretty awesome. I felt like we were in Jurassic Park in that the high cliff walls, jungle vines, exotic flora and fauna. Beautiful. After our float we walked around and saw so many fun and different things. It’s like a zoo/amusement park/natural preserve. It was very different and very fun to do once.

We had lunch at a buffet, which was great in that Aaron and Arla were able to get their vegan food without problems. Drinks were also included. I went to use the bathroom and it was like outside but not…Also, the sinks were shared with the men and opened up to the jungle. Way cool.  You feel like you are deep in a jungle and part of it is on the shoreline of the Gulf.

We walked around and saw manatees, lots of parrots and exotic birds, panthers, dolphins – tons of animals. It was hot and pretty crowded but not overly so. We wanted to stay around and watch the night show but we were all pretty tired by 5:30 PM and left.

We are at Xcaret.
Beautiful parrots.
Our selfie.
Monkeys!
Lots of underground walkways.
We had already traveled this waterway. Had a real Jurassic park feel to it.
Interesting place.
Too hot for this today.
These guys ran free throughout the park.
Interesting costumed dancers seen about.
All manner of beastie walking around.
A beautiful panther.
Beautiful animal.
Aaron and Arla wanted to do this but they were sold out. You wear the white helmet and weights and walk on the bottom.
The lines and bubbles are people walking around on the bottom.
An incubator. I don’t know the future for the chicks, sure hope they were allowed to grow to adulthood.
Flowers in water in a concrete display.
Entrance, mock Mayan construction. Wish I could peek ahead in time about 1400 years and see how these buildings stack up to the actual Mayan ruins.

That was our day. Hope yours was great!
