Indio, CA – 10/8/2016 to10/10/2016
October 8-10, 2016
Woke up Saturday morning to beautiful blue skies and warm weather. It is quite lovely here. Michael stayed home to work on the blog and I went out to get some groceries. We are excited because we heard from our friend Bonnie (we first met her in the Atlanta area when she invited us to her home before our Europe trip). She’s in the area and she’s going to come by for a visit. She said she was fine with sleeping on the couch or murphy bed.
I went to a nearby WinCo Market that Michael gave me directions. You need your own bags here (like in Monterey County), or you can buy them. Michael wants to make beef stroganoff for dinner, along with salad and bread; carrot cake for dessert (with ice cream of course). While in our home in the afternoon, I felt what I thought was a very large earthquake (Michael didn’t notice it). “It shook me real good.” Come to find out it was only a 2.8. Would hate to feel a bigger one.
Did a bunch of laundry while waiting for Bonnie to arrive. She was a little later than she thought but it was so good to finally see her. She’s doing really well. We heard about her recent Europe trip and all the adventures she’s been on. She’s pretty much fearless and I love it. We enjoyed our visit but finally had to get some sleep.
We got up Sunday morning and Bonnie and I went to the lazy river. We got to play in it for quite awhile before the onslaught of children. At the point where the kids outnumbered the adults, we left and headed back home. We walked the interior of the resort and noticed all the work being done and, also, how lovely it is and how lovely it will be when everything is done.
We got back and Michael had gone to the store and bought a bunch of vegetables to grill for dinner. We had red, orange, and yellow bell peppers, zucchini squash, carrots, potatoes, asparagus, portobello mushrooms, and pineapple. Along with the vegetables, we had leftover salad and beef stroganoff from last night. We had quite the meal. Excellent!
After eating we all watched the Clinton Trump 2nd debate. I keep hoping for the white knight on the horse to ride in and save us all from both of them! Not sure what or who we’re voting for but….it should not be the lesser evil choice.
Monday morning we got up and walked the berm trail above the golf course. We even found a golf ball up there. Michael’s brother Paul told us about it and it’s an easy walk (except Bonnie wanted to go to the top of the hill and it was kinda tricky) and a lovely view. We figured we walked about a mile and a half. Once we got back down, Bonnie wanted to go walking around to find where she stayed when she was here before. We think we found it, but with all the construction going on, not 100% sure.
Bonnie left to head back to her friend’s home near San Diego, and Michael and I headed for the lazy river. It was fun and relaxing for awhile, but then we wanted to get into the big pool. When we got to it, we realized the deepest part was 3-1/2 feet, which is just too little for us. We ended up walking back to our home and taking a nap.
Left overs for dinner and a nice lazy day.
Those were our days. Hope yours were great!
