September 4th and 5th, 2016

September 4-5, 2016 (Sunday/Monday)

Michael got awakened pretty early by banging and clanging outside. We later found out that some guests in our complex were up and about cleaning the BBQ pit for their Labor Day BBQ.

The weather today was absolutely perfect. We wanted to be lazy but we also needed to go grocery shopping and do our laundry. Before we left to drive into Festus, Missouri, we drove around the lake here. So lovely and peaceful. They have paddle boats that you can rent, which we’re considering doing one day. We drove into Festus, Missouri to the Walmart. Michael needed to get some medication and they were so good about getting it to him within just a few minutes. A new record for Walmart and his medications.  (The drive into Festus was about 15 miles.)

After Walmart, we went to a nearby laundromat and did our dirty stuff. The washing machine cost was only $1.50 (normally at least $2.00), and they did a good job. We were out of there within an hour, which was nice.

We headed home and Michael made a really good salad and rolls for dinner. We want to use up most of our food before we leave here as we’ll be “on the road and in hotels” for about a week.

Monday was another lazy day. We worked on the blog over at the activities center. At 1:00 PM, there was a little get together so that we could hear about the local activities. At the end of the talk there was a drawing and we won! (We never win. We were shocked!). We won a $25.00 gift card to a restaurant. Fun.

After the meeting we worked on the blog more and also got some Groupons for a trolly tour ($18.00 for the two of us) and did some research on how far places are that we were interested in going (Jefferson City to see the capitol; St. Louis Zoo, etc.). We walked back across the road to our “home” and made linner of pasta and leftover salad. For dessert we ate a watermelon that we’ve been hauling around for a week. It was pretty good. Weather has been pretty nice but a little humid.

Those were our days. Hope yours were great!
