Seattle, WA to Rathdrum, Idaho – 8/8/2016

August 8, 2016 (Monday)

Today was all about the long drive from the Seattle, Washington area to Rathdrum, Idaho (a little over 300 miles). Our first stop was at a nearby McDonald’s for our travel breakfast of egg white delight and coffee. Tasted really good. Haven’t had it in awhile. The next stop was at a view point that had statues of wild horses on a hill overlooking the river. Very beautiful. The drive took us through dense trees, to barren land, and everything in between.

We checked out of our extended stay and hit the road.

We got into Spokane and got some gas and looked around. We also got a quick bite at a local Sonic (it was their happy hour and drinks and some of their items were half off).

We got to Rathdrum around 4 PM and checked into our AirBnB. Very nice couple with a beautiful baby girl (7 months old). Our room and bathroom are large and very clean. I think it was $40 per night and we’re staying two nights.

We had been talking to our nephew and niece (Dave and Danielle) about getting a quick hug in. We decided to meet up at Capone’s Pub in Hayden, Idaho (about a ten minute drive from Rathdrum). We met there at 7 PM and Danielle brought the kids. They have grown so much and it was so good to see them. Their little boy is going into kindergarten. Can’t believe it. Their girl is so tall and beautiful. Dave joined after he got off work. So nice to catch up and visit.

We really enjoy Spokane.

Around 9:30 PM, the kids were tired and Dave and Danielle were tired (and we were tired), so we called it a night. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
