Reno, Nevada – 11/7/2015 to 11/14/2015
November 7-14, 2015
Originally we booked the Worldmark Reno and then the Heidelberg Inn for the following week. With us just getting into the house and starting to remodel it, our plans changed and I went up to Reno by myself to have some alone time and also get a “wine and dye” visit in with my sister. When we’re both able and not busy, we like to meet in the middle (usually Sacramento area), go out to dinner (usually Cheesecake Factory), and then go back to our room and drink wine and dye our hair. We spend a lot of time laughing, crying, and just catching up. Always a good time.
I checked into the resort and was a little disappointed. This is perhaps the worst Worldmark I’ve ever stayed at. It’s old and in a very sketchy area of town. My room was on a floor where it was being totally remodeled and there were lots of men there. I never quite felt safe and made sure I was home by dark and safely tucked in. (Yes, I admit it that I’m a chicken.) I had even asked for another floor but was told they were full.
I spent the first couple of days just exploring Reno, going to the movies, and just relaxing. It’s cold (winter in the mountains) and there’s a little snow on the ground. So glad when my sister got there to visit. We went to the new Cheesecake Factory and then went back to our room to dye our hair, drink our wine, and eat our take out cheesecake dessert.
The next day, after my sister left, I walked down to the main street area and watched the Veteran’s Day Parade. After watching for awhile, I went into one of the casino’s and won about $100.00. Always a good day when you can walk out of a casino without losing.
I left a couple of days early because a big storm was coming in. I also canceled the Heidelberg Inn due to the storm and not being able to get over the pass like we had originally planned.
