Lodi to Windsor, California – 9/21/2015

Getting from place to place

September 21, 2015 (Monday)

We spent yesterday and last night in Lodi at Don and Maureen’s home (longtime friends). We tried to figure out the last time we saw them (need to consult the blog), but we reasoned it was over a year. Too long to wait to see such wonderful people. They are so sweet and it was so good to see them. We’re hoping to get back up to see them next month.

We left around noon and headed to Windsor. We stopped a short distance from Don and Maureen’s home to get some lunch (In N Out), and then headed out Highway 12.

We took highway 12 from Lodi to Santa Rosa for the fun of it. We cut through some interesting islands in the center of the central valley.

Beautiful drive that had us stopping at draw bridges for cute little sail boats passing by (twice that happened).

So fun. Didn’t realize we had to go over islands to get to Windsor. It took us about three hours to get to the Worldmark in Windsor (approximately 120 miles). The roads are very narrow and the draw bridges and two lane roads slowed us down quite a bit. You can’t be in a hurry to take this road, that’s for sure.

Before we got to the Worldmark, Michael and I had made a blood oath that we WERE NOT going to do another timeshare presentation, aka owner’s update. Last time (last month) we were here it was pretty miserable. If we were rich, no problem, I’d buy enough Worldmark developer points to be at the level where we wouldn’t have to pay for housekeeping. However, we’re not rich so we can’t buy. We got our room and they sent us over to get our parking pass. Once at the parking pass we were greeted by the same person as last month, Jamie. We explained we did it last month, hated it, not doing it. He was so convincing and said when we go in to just say we’re there for the gift. We said no, he kept on. He had an excuse for every one of our excuses. Eventually he got us with two dinners to the Kendall-Jackson restaurant called “Partake by K-J” in Healdsburg (worth about $150.00). We caved and said yes. We’re weak and can be bought (plus we really wanted to go to that restaurant since we so enjoyed the food and wine pairing at Kendall-Jackson last month).

We got into our home and that was it, we were done for the night. It’s a lovely one bedroom unit on the third floor. Lots of room and quite comfortable.

Very comfortable bed.
