Prunedale to Windsor, California – 8/25/2015

August 25, 2015

(While we were sitting around in Prunedale, waiting and basically doing nothing but planning – we saw some bonus time on the Worldmark site. We knew we wanted to go back to Windsor and San Francisco but we were waiting for more than one night. We saw three nights available in Windsor and decided to go for it. We knew once we are back in our house we will be very busy and won’t be able to get away very often.

Today we head to Windsor, California to the Worldmark. It’s approximately 150 miles but takes about three hours because the traffic near San Jose and San Francisco slows us down considerably. (We stopped at the local McDonald’s for our travel breakfast of egg white delite McMuffin and coffee before we hit the road.) We left pretty early for us, around 9:00 AM, because we wanted to stop by and see some old friends, Henry and Florence. (Henry used to be Michael’s boss at San Quentin years ago.) Henry and Florence have been having some serious health issues, as can happen when you’re in your mid 80’s I suppose. We tried to see them last month when we went through but they had doctor procedures and appointments.

We got to Henry and Florence’s home around 11:15 AM. We visited for awhile and then they wanted to take us out to lunch at a local favorite of theirs called Lumberman. Pretty good and the prices weren’t horrible. We didn’t want to wear them out but we sure enjoyed our visit and catching up on how everyone was doing.

We left around 2:00 PM and headed towards the Worldmark but ended up in Santa Rosa. This trip Michael is being the tour guide and he wanted to show me his “old neighborhood” and take me down memory lane from when he lived in Santa Rosa. We went up to where he used to live with his first wife. Such a beautiful view up in the hills. Wish he still had the house as the neighborhood is very nice. We also went by some other places he used to visit, then ended up at the Safeway to get a few things for our stay in Windsor. We both really love the Santa Rosa area and are going to look at it as a possible if water becomes more available in California (praying for a good winter rainfall).

The check-in process was quick and easy at the Worldmark, until we were told to go collect our welcome package (uh oh). There we met a nice young man who wanted us to go to an owner update. We told him no, we don’t like doing them any longer as we don’t want to buy, etc., etc., etc. We asked if he got in trouble and he said he could if he didn’t meet his quota. He told us it was an update and there were lots of new things happening and we should check it out. Anyway, long story short, we bit and signed up to go tomorrow morning. What have we done! Anyway…..we’ll deal with it.

We got into our home and it’s lovely. Going to enjoy the next three nights.
