Vancouver, Washington July 28th to July 30th, 2015
We checked into our AirBnb home and it was quite interesting. It’s an artsy home where the two (Robert and Rainey) paint, raise bees, make their own soap, raise chickens, grow some of their food, anddo lots of interesting things. Fun. The room was large and very clean. The bed was really comfortable. We decided it would be a nice home base for the days we were there. (We used our $200.00 coupon we had been given from AirBnb and $18.00 of our money to book it for three nights.)
While we were in Vancouver, Michael and I liked the traffic so much better than the Portland area. We felt the traffic ease up once we crossed over the Columbia River bridge. We didn’t want to even look at anything in the Portland area. We did go back down into Portland to have lunch with a college friend of Michael’s, Bobbi. What a fun and beautiful lady, inside and out. So glad I got to meet her after hearing stories about her for the last 25 years; and so glad Michael reconnected with her and caught up on people they know and how everyone was doing.
I’m sure we’ll see her again. We met for lunch at a little place called Pine State Biscuits in Portland. Driving into Portland was miserable, and finding parking was miserable, but the visit and the food was so wonderful! I had a biscuit with fried chicken breast, cheddar cheese, and apple butter. Delicious. Michael agreed that I won today’s food contest. Bobbi got the same as me. Michael got the pulled pork.
One day we had dinner with Don and Cheryl (Michael’s cousin). Had a good visit. Earlier in the week we had also gotten to see Larry, Don and Terry (Larry’s partner). We had pizza at a place called Flying Pie Pizza. They make their own sausage for the pizza and it’s excellent. Also, if you order a large pizza – be prepared to eat on it for a week. The pizza that we got for our table probably weighed at least five pounds.
These were some of our activities, hope your time has been great.
