April 29 to May 6, 2015

We’ve been busy painting, tackling “the wilderness project” (weeds), going through our mail, and fixing things that need to be fixed.  We still have a lot to do and have decided we need to spend time on our rentals at least once a year.  We’ll need to block off some dates so we can stay in the studio while we work around the places.

On Saturday, May 2, 2015, Michael and I drove up to Santa Clara.  We visited for a little while and then Michael and Aaron left in the truck to go down to San Antonio Lake, in Southern Monterey County.  Aaron is doing a triathlon on Sunday and we had gotten a hotel in King City for the night.  When Arla got off work, she and their friend, Daniel, also drove down to help take pictures and cheer Aaron on.  The triathlon involved a one mile swim, twenty-five mile bike ride, and a six mile run.  Does not sound like fun to me but Aaron enjoys it and has done it before.

I stayed in Santa Clara to watch the grand-puppies, along with two other furry friends who were staying with Aaron and Arla. (Lots of work with four dogs and I was sure glad to see Aaron and Arla come through the door on Sunday night.)  They took two cars (well, one car and one truck) because Michael wanted to “beat cleats” to get back to the studio because we had “blog friends” coming from Australia that we wanted to spend time with.

Aaron and Arla got back to Santa Clara around 7:00 PM or so and I headed out.  I got back to the studio around 8:30 PM and we visited with our new Australian friends (Janet and Randolph) for an hour or so before we all went to bed.  We had them sleeping in the studio and we slept on the couch in the mobile.  They left early in the morning as they had to have the car dropped off by 10:00 AM in San Francisco.  We were afraid of the traffic on a Monday morning going into San Francisco.  Normally it takes about two hours.

The rest of the week was spent doing more work on the place, mostly weeding and stripping the wax off the floor in the studio.  Just general maintenance that needs to be done.  Also, our daughter’s beloved dog, Beans, suffered some type of back injury and was paralyzed.  I guess it’s relatively common for Dachshunds for this to happen but it was so devastating and heartbreaking.  Michael and Lexi spent a lot of time with vets and I had jury duty.

That was how we spent this time.  Hope yours was great!
