Santa Fe to Alamogordo, New Mexico – 4/20/2015 mkeller7281 Posted on April 20, 2015 Posted in Uncategorized Now this is my favorite. Mike here, gave Edie the day off, so I’ll just publish some pictures from the Capitol and the drive. Before leaving Santa Fe we wanted to walk through the Capitol building. It is different than any other we have toured. It is a short round structure. The building is round. Brass entry doors. Nice door handles with inlaid turquoise. Schematic. This place is a gallery for New Mexico art. There is so much art on every surface here. There was a quilt display in the lobby on the day of our visit. The quilts were fantastic works of art. Edie was fascinated. This was my favorite, until… I saw and read this one. Now this is my favorite. So many that were beautiful. The Capitol dome. Marble walls. Highly polished. Fun benches. Several busts of notable State historic figures. Art… In the elevator. Edie continues her love affair with horse paintings. Looking at the rotunda floor I realized I was looking at a modern day kiva. Every hallway… Some famous. Nice furniture in the hallways. Snake motif. Collage. Nice decorative touches. We headed south. Took us a minute to realize these were sheared sheep. A lonely and unhappy looking antelope. Long roads. Topped off. Brightest cycle we have seen. We agreed it was a smart color, very visable. Alamogordo is pistachio country. We meant to stop here and hit their sample bar but didn’t get a chance. Pretty woman, Angel and Stacey going on a run. Stacey wanted to put Angel in the back but Edie insisted on riding back there. That was our day and we sincerely hope you had a wonderful day.
