Wisconsin to Sioux Falls, South Dakota – 4/4/2015

April 4, 2015 (Saturday)

Moving day! We were both surprised by the alarm going off at 8:00 AM. We thought we’d be up and packing by then. Oh well, it all got done. While we were packing up we met some folks and got to talking to them. One couple is quite interested in doing what we do (or something like it) when the wife retires in a few years. Was fun talking to them.

We left around 10:00 AM and hit the road. The drive today was around 400 miles, mostly on Interstate 90 through Wisconsin, Minnesota, and then into South Dakota. We stopped once for gas and to eat at a little Amish place in Minnesota. Wonderful homemade bread. They also had quite a few handmade quilts and other Amish type things. Beautiful.

The weather was totally inconsistent the whole trip. At times it looked like it was going to rain, other times it was beautiful. The temperature ranged from 50 to 70. The land is quite flat and mostly agriculture. We did see some snow still lingering right as we crossed the Mississippi River into Minnesota.

We finally crossed into South Dakota and got to our hotel at around 5:30 PM. Michael went out to get us something for dinner (Hardee’s – salad and chicken).
