March 28, 2015 (Saturday)

Moving day. Woke up to sunny skies and a little warmer temperatures (40 or so).

Got a little gas.

Today’s move is to Wisconsin Dells, normally about 3 hours away, but we decided to take a little detour through Oshkosh to visit more of Michael’s family from his first wife. Ruth and Richard (we went to visit in Iowa City) have three boys, one – Dan – lives in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Dan, and his wife, Paquita, have two sons about our kids’ ages. We haven’t seen them in several years and it was so lovely to catch up and actually see their grown sons. They had also made an excellent lunch consisting of some Spanish dishes, great Wisconsin cheeses, and fruit. Loved seeing them and loved the food. Great time.

Not much left from our wonderful lunch. Fresh fruit and candied fruit was our dessert. It was all outstanding.

We got to our new “home” around 4:30 PM. I think we were both a little disappointed in the fact that Wisconsin Dells was not what we were expecting. It’s a lot like Gatlinburg in that it’s quite touristy.

Lovely church.

Hey, we were just there. Not quite as impressive as the other one, but not bad for a smaller replica.

We were also disappointed that they don’t have internet in our unit (you have to go to the activity center). It’s a lovely unit overlooking a lake with lots of ducks and Canadian geese. Fun watching and listening to them.

Kind of hard to find. GPS address was off.

Activity center had music playing. Not our music and a little louder than we like, oh well.

We went to a little local’s place for dinner, called Brat House Grill. Food was okay but what was more fun was watching all the locals as they watched their state basketball team in the March Madness playoffs. They were all into it and Wisconsin won!

Damn gout. The Brat house and grill must surely make a great bratwurst sandwich.
