Branson, Missouri; Marty Robbins Tribute – 3/8/2015

March 8, 2015 (Sunday)

Slept really well. Woke up and visited with Aunt Gail and Uncle Claude for a little bit then we headed to Cracker Barrel for breakfast/lunch. Michael got the Sunday chicken special we all love so much. Uncle Claude got some biscuits and gravy something, not sure what Aunt Gail got, and I got egg, bacon, yogurt and muffin. Everything was great.

We left and went back to our home and decided to see a show while Michael stayed home and worked on the blog.  We decided on a “A Tribute to Marty Robbins” at 3:00 PM at the Little Opry Theatre. I went across the street to the ticket office and got the tickets for us (you get a small discount by using them). We got to the theater a little early and looked around. It’s an IMAX theater, movie theater, shopping center, and live theater. The live theater is very small (only holds about 200 people) but very cozy and friendly. We were seated in the back so us old people didn’t have to go up and down any steps.

The show was great. Leroy New was the main man singing most of the Marty Robbins songs. He sang so many of Marty Robbins songs – but also told some history behind them. He also had another bass guitar player, and a person playing an electronic piano. All excellent and professional people who have been in the business for years. At one point a guy from the audience joined in and played “bones.” I had never heard of bones before but they were really quite good. Thoroughly enjoyed the show, and I hope Uncle Claude and Aunt Gail did.

We got back to our home but still weren’t very hungry. Michael went out to Steak ‘n Shake and got hamburgers, fries and shakes to for dinner. Aunt Gail didn’t want her half so Uncle Claude ate it all, which is a good thing. I’m hopeful he gained a little weight while here.

That was our day. Hope yours was great!
