Grand Lake, Oklahoma to Branson, Missouri – 3/7/2015

March 7, 2015 (Saturday)

Moving day. Excited though because Uncle Claude and Aunt Gail said they were up to joining us in Branson. They both love Branson and I made sure (when we made our reservations) we had a place with two bedrooms in case they were able to make it. Their plan was to drop their babies (dogs Shorty and Trixi) off and then drive up and meet us around 3:00 PM or so, as we couldn’t get into the room until around 4:00 PM.

We left the Worldmark Grand Lake at around 9:30 AM and stopped at a restaurant about twenty miles away. It was probably one of the grubbiest and dirtiest places ever, but the food was okay.

The drive was about three hours and we got there around 1:00 PM.

A sunny and cold day, not bad for a little trip.

Right as we got into Branson, we got a call from Aunt Gail saying they were at the Branson Cracker Barrel. We said we’d meet them in a few minutes, which we did, and then we all had lunch.

After lunch we drove to the resort and tried to check in but were told it wasn’t ready. They checked us in, gave us our parking passes and signed us up for a presentation and told us to check back in a couple hours.

We decided to go have the cars washed to get rid of all the salt and sand on them. There was a car wash just a little bit down the road.

Especially nice getting rid of the dirty white dusty dried salt residue.

When that was done, I got in the car with Aunt Gail and she drove us to a clothing place she likes that she calls “Dressing Gaudy,” but is really called “Queen Elizabeth,” ladies gaudy fashions. What a truly unique and fun store. Really enjoyed seeing all the fun, frilly, and outlandish things they have. They do have one purse that I would love to get if I were rich. It’s a beautiful peacock purse that is more of an art piece than a purse.

We left after a little bit and went back to the resort. By this time we were able to check in. It’s a lockout with a smaller unit and then a huge unit. The huge unit had a great patio area that was screened in. Looks like we’ll be very comfortable for the week.

Uncle Claude and Aunt Gail went out on an errand and I went to the local grocery store. Michael worked on the blog.

Got back and made dinner (pork chops, applesauce, potatoes). That was our day. Hope yours was great!
