Naples, Italy – 2/24/2015

February 24, 2015 (Tuesday)

Last day before we get off the ship.  So sad to be leaving Europe and all the beautiful things we’ve seen (and haven’t seen yet).

Today we got off the ship and walked.  Our friends, Maria and Allen, told us about a little street they visited when we stopped here last week or so.  It sounded so lovely that I made a mental note that I wanted to visit it.  Michael and I also wanted to go to the National Museum in Naples, which we were told had all the most wonderful things from Pompeii, Herculeum, and other things.  When we got out into the port and asked the information person, we were told the Museum was closed on Tuesday.  We were both so bummed but decided to walk to the nativity scene street anyway, even in the pouring down rain.

The walk was quite a distance but we got help along the way from some wonderful people willing to assist lost tourists.  Was fun just wandering the streets of Naples, except for the rain.  We found lots of fun things to see, went into great little stores, statues, people, got into a church just after a service, and finally found the nativity scene street.  We got to see people working on tiny little things for the scenes.  So glad we got to see it.

Not sure what else we did (we lost the entry I had typed that night and I’m just relying on my poor memory for this – a month later).  Anyway, that was our day.  Hope yours was great!
