January 29^th and 30^th (Thursday and Friday)

Mike here. We have been quietly gathering our thoughts, traveling necessities and energy. Thursday we went through everything we have with us and tried to anticipate what we would need and want. I made my second trip to Walmart and got all my medicines except one.

We ate taco bell and KFC again for linner. Getting pretty tired of chicken. Have all my worst case scenario gout medicine. Skyped with my son, practicing for our trip.

Today, we slept in and really focused on packing and preparing the car. Our plan is to leave everything we don’t want in Europe or on the boat in the back of the car, under a blanket. We are going to have two checked bags and two carry on bags for the flight. My small suitcase is a carry on and I have my medicines, a few clothes and all the computer and camera gear in it. It is zipped to its smallest size.

My carry on. Cannon, long lense, gopro, camcorder, small cannon, wires, chargers and I'll put both laptops in there with chargers and a mouse. — My carry on. Our winter bag is our biggest and is a checked bag. It holds most of my clothes and those things not allowed in the cabin of the plane. Shampoo, shave cream, razor, first aide kit, umbrellas, shoes, things like that.

Edie’s small suitcase is unzipped to the most open position and will be a checked bag. It has most of her clothing.

Edie went out to Walmart and got my last missing anti-hypertensive. I am now set. I have filled the back of the car with things not going and the back seat is clear for the bags we are taking. We scheduled a tour at CNN on Monday at 9:30 am. I called and canceled. What was I thinking? We leave Monday at 4 PM for a long flight to Rome, and then a haul over to the coast on a train system in Italian. We are going to sleep in as long as we can now on Monday morning and meander to the airport, a better start to a long night. Sleep on an airplane is impossible for me and difficult for Edie. This is a better plan. Edie brought Chinese food home for linner. This has been our day and we hope yours is good. We will publish as we can, but after Monday it will be catch as catch can. We will be creating the blog, just won’t get it posted until we get some solid internet connection. The ship is terrible, with the killer combination of expensive and slow. We will catch up again.
