Airboat Ride, St Cloud, Florida – 1/28/2015

JANUARY 28, 2015 (Wednesday)

Another lovely day in Florida. Still a little chilly but nice. Did our usual morning and left the house about 11:00 AM to drive just a little bit down the road to a local Urgent Care type facility.  Michael had made an appointment to make sure he had gout medication for the cruise. While Michael was in seeing the doctor, I went next door to the Dollar General and then waited in the car. It took about an hour and a half but when Michael came out to the car, he said the doctor was really nice and he was able to get the medication. Yahoo.

Very professional, by the book, nice people. On this journey, the urgent cares have served us well.

Once we were done with the doctor, we headed to a nearby Walmart to put in the prescriptions, and to get refills on some other medications Michael will need while we’re gone. When we left Walmart, there was a horrible motorcycle accident and traffic was being diverted.  We stopped by the bank to pick up our Euros we had ordered on Monday.

Weird pharmacy. Still waiting for prescriptions.

This tree was so full of loud birds, but no obvious poop. Glad, we parked under the tree.

We left Walmart and headed to Boggy Creek Airboat Rides, just a few miles from our home. We got there and signed up for the next airboat tour (about $27.00 per person). While we were waiting for the tour, we were able to walk the grounds and see some of the red-headed birds grazing in the pasture, see some little alligators in the gator tank, and see some small animals (mostly snakes and two turtles). The young man showing off the snakes was very knowledgeable and was able to give us some really neat facts about them. I enjoyed hearing about them, but didn’t want to touch them (Michael loved it and loved holding them).

Our tour left at 2:15 PM. There were about five other people on the boat with us. This airboat tour was a little different in that it was on a big open lake, not a jungle type swamp like last year. We got to go much faster and further, which was nice. We saw only two or three alligators, two snakes, two bald eagles, and lots of other birds. Was fun. We wanted to do another airboat ride because Michael loved it so last year and we don’t know when we’ll be back to Florida. Great fun. Also glad it was so close.

After the airboat ride, they had a little gator show near the gator pit. The same young man as before told us more facts about the gators. He let people hold one and take pictures with it. Once again Michael wanted to, while I stood back (way back) and watched. Enjoyed seeing him liking it so much.

We left and drove near our home and stopped at the Taco Bell/KFC drive-thru to get dinner. When we got back Michael finished and filed our federal taxes. Our California State tax will have to be printed and mailed. We are relieved to have the Federal tax submitted. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
