Kissimmee to Poinciana, Florida – 1/24/2015
January 24, 2015 (Saturday)
Mike here. Gave Edie the day off. Moving day and I had a chance to hang out with Ed from our Tuggers meeting. We got up early, yuck, about 8:20 this morning. Packed up and loaded the car. We drove to the new place and it is out in the country. About 20 miles out. I went in the office and asked if by chance there might be a room ready and there was not. The nice woman took my cell number and told me she would call when our room was ready.
We decided to head to Reunion, where Ed is staying. His wife and daughter flew back to New York and return on Monday, where they will then all drive back to New York. Ed is on his own for a few days and we are going to Tampa and gamble. Ed and I agreed to meet at the main gate at 12 noon. Edie and I were pretty early and so did some shopping at a nearby Publix. We also spent a fair bit of time on the phone trying to straighten out an overcharge on one of our credit cards.
We met Ed, who was waiting for us at the main gate. We drove in and toured his unit. Edie headed out and Ed and I toured the greater grounds of Reunion – which is over 5,000 acres. Pools, fairways, hotel, roof top swimming pool, residential areas. I got the grand tour.
Ed and I left for the casino and stopped at a Steak and Shake on the way. It was crazy crowded and so we went to McDonald’s instead. The casino is a Hard Rock Cafe as well. We were there for a little over an hour. I decided I’d lose no more than $40. I max bet it and it turned into $80. I cashed out happy to double my little bit. I wandered watching gamblers and stopped at a table where they were playing 3 card poker. As I was trying to figure the game out I watched a lady get a ace, king and queen of hearts. In 3 card poker they pay 1000 to 1 for a royal flush. She had $15 bet on the play spot and more on the others. A supervisor came over and reviewed a video of the game at the table to make sure no one passed her any cards. They paid her with thousand dollar chips. She was so happy. It was nice to see.
Ed left down just a little and got some cheap entertainment. We drove back.
We got back and Ed showed me more areas of Reunion.
Edie picked me up and she and I found a Steak and Shake. Again, the line was out the door so we decided to do the drive-through. Edie drove and we ate our dinner. We got to our place, where she had unloaded the car (thus my writing of the blog). The resort is an older one but it is okay. Edie really likes that it is very cute and functional. It is small but has 9 foot ceilings. A one bedroom, rural, quiet, two TV’s, so I won’t be stuck watching, “Say Yes to the Dress.”
This has been our day, we hope yours was great.
