TUG Get-Together, Orlando, Florida – 1/21/2015
JANUARY 21, 2015 (Wednesday)
Slept really well. Wonderful bed. When we did wake up, we peeked out the curtains and there was sunshine. We had breakfast and while Michael was making the coffee, there was a very strong electrical smell coming from the coffee pot. We opened the sliding door on the patio, and the door to the hall. When a maintenance worker came by and asked if we wanted the door closed, we told him what happened and he replaced the coffee maker right away.
We were supposed to get up and go out to the lazy river before we headed to the TUG meeting today at the Golden Corral Restaurant on Vineland. Instead, we had our breakfast and spent the morning mostly on the phone. We ended up rushing to get dressed in order to get out the door by 1:15 PM. We wanted to make sure we weren’t late as the traffic has been so bad. We got there a little before the 2:00 PM lunch time.
We got to the Golden Corral and walked in with Ron, Joan, Stu and Nancy. In just a little while there were a bunch of us eating and talking. Someone, I think Alan, said that whenever we got a new plate of food, we should move and talk to a new person. We all liked the idea and tried to do that. Anyway, there were lots of new faces – as well as some we met last night – Ed, Dale, Tanya, Jayne, Christine, Alan and Carol, Jeff and Judy, Marie and Mary. What fun talking, laughing, asking questions, getting great information, learning new things – not to mention really good food. We left around 5:00 PM.
Mike here, I totally spaced on getting pictures of Ron and Joan and Stu and Nancy:
We headed back to our home and finally got into the lazy river. It was wonderful. The water was warm, there were plenty of tubes to ride in, and it wasn’t crowded. How much better can it be? I loved it. What was fun was that as you go around the lazy river, there is a fort and the cannons near the fort shoot out water. Was great. Afterwards we just sat around the pool for awhile and enjoyed everything.
Around 7:30 PM, Ron, Joan and Nancy came by our home to check it out. We all agreed it’s lovely (but not a Presidential unit). We then walked out to a pool area near the fort to listen to “dueling pianos.” Was nice but we weren’t close enough to really enjoy the music as the area was so crowded.
Around 8:45 PM, we walked around the boardwalk area to the special fireworks spot (room 726 in tower 1). They open up a special four bedroom unit for people to go onto the balcony to enjoy the fireworks at Disney World. It was fabulous.
Such a great evening. After they were done we walked the other way around the boardwalk area. Such a beautiful resort with lots of different areas. We saw a small golf area, a swimming pool with a slide for the kids, restaurants, and other things. Just amazing. Loved it
We are now back in our home for the night. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
