Bonnet Creek, Orlando, Florida – 1/20/2015

JANUARY 20, 2015 (Tuesday)

Got going slow with the usual – cereal, tea, computers. We left our home around 2:00 PM and went to TJ Maxx, Ross Dress For Less, and Target. The reason for this trip was that I discovered I was missing a small white wallet of mine that contained my health card and a couple other cards (no credit cards, thank goodness). I thought I’d give it a shot to see if someone turned it in as the last place I remembered seeing it, or getting into it, was at the TJ Maxx. As I feared, no one found it and turned it in.  We also did a little shopping at the Target Superstore.

We left and were hungry so we stopped at the Ponderosa Steak House, where you order your main entry and then eat all you want at the buffet part. Their computer was down so they had to do a receipt the “old fashioned way” and collect the money a little later. All the people there were really nice and friendly. The server gave us a booth with “an ocean view.”

When done eating, we left and walked next door to the gift shop (looking for me some ears because I really don’t want to give up the ones we got for Lexi). They didn’t have anything that would fit my head, just for little ones. Bummer.

You'd think we'd find ears here.

We drove to Bonnet Creek and it’s a beautiful resort, which we have heard from several people how lovely it is. Lots of huge buildings, lots of swimming pools, and it’s kept up really nice. The lobby was awesome. There was about a five or so minute wait to check-in, then the mandatory going to get the “parking pass.” When we were getting the parking pass, we found out they were full and we couldn’t do the owner’s update. Kinda glad but we did want to find out how to use our Wyndham better now that we’re owners (of a very small contract).

I’m not sure if we told you how we happened to get into Bonnet Creek. I’ll try to make it short. We’re staying at Villas at Fortune Place this week, until Saturday. There’s a TUG meeting on 1/21/2015. We were finally going to get to go to a TUG meeting and meet people we had only read about on TUG. We were also going to get to see Ron and Joan again. Well, Ron and Joan had posted on TUG that they had a 2 bedroom deluxe room available for 1/20/2015 to 1/22/2015. When I saw it, I immediately posted that we would take it as we had been wanting to see it. Thank you so much Ron and Joan!

Anyway, the unit is so beautiful and spacious. Granite, lovely furnishings, comfortable bed, washer and dryer, large soaking tub. Love it. Gonna hate to leave. We’re on the first floor, so not much of a view, but it’s just beautiful and one of the lazy rivers is right out the back door of the lobby of our building.

We left our unit around 7:20 PM and walked over to Ron and Joan’s building, next door. We got to their room but they were still having dinner. I felt bad but Joan interrupted eating to show us her 2 bedroom Presidential unit. It was spectacular. We thought our unit was beautiful – but theirs was such a step above. Furnishings were upgraded, great view, lovely wood ceilings. Glad we got to see how the Presidential units looked. Very nice.

We talked, laughed, and shared for awhile with Ron, Joan, Stu and Nancy. A few minutes later the doorbell rang (yes these units have their own doorbells) and Big Ed, Dale, and Tanya came in. They’re from New York and just so nice. (Tanya is their 22 year old daughter who came with them.  Made us wish Lexi was with us.)  They spend a lot of time in Orlando. So glad we got to meet them. They’re going to the TUG meeting and we get to visit some more with them.

We left around 11:00 PM and walked home.
