Logan’s Roadhouse, Orlando, Florida – 1/9/2015
JANUARY 9, 2015 (Friday)
Got up and around 8:30 AM we got a telephone call from the Reception Center saying we could move into our new upgraded unit (A side). Yahoo. This B side is okay but without a stove or oven, it’s just not as comfortable. We had hoped to have friends over and host a meal, that isn’t working out, but it is nice to have a full kitchen. How nice that they kept their word and did what they said they would do. I really thought they would just forget about it. Anyway, another great thing is that we’re only moving right across the hall. We won’t get the view of the fireworks at night, but we’ll get a great view of the pool area. Works for me. They even sent a guy with the new keys and told us to call and let them know when we were out of our B unit. So nice. We got all moved and it’s beautiful – large, stove, oven, washer and dryer, bigger tub, bigger bed, and a much bigger patio area. It’s lovely. About twice the size as the old unit. Love it. We always give Vacation Villages a 5 star rating, this time it will be even more of a pleasure.
It’s still really cold in Florida (in the 50’s). We’re getting old and it’s hard for us to get out in the cold but we figured we needed to do something since we were totally lazy slugs yesterday. We got dressed and left our new home around 1:00 PM. We still couldn’t decide where we wanted to go but knew we were hungry so we headed to a really close place that our TUG friend, Miss Marty, had told us about – Logan’s Roadhouse. What a great restaurant. While you’re waiting, they give you two big buckets on the table – one full of peanuts and the other for the shells. You can eat as many peanuts as you want until your real food arrives, and then continue eating more if you want. Also, they have the most delicious yeast rolls. So yummy. Prices aren’t that bad, but when we go again (and we will), we’ll go to their special from 3-6 (or something like that) where you can get two dinners for $14.99 (lunch portions but that’s good). Excellent wait staff and a fun place with good food. Michael got a chicken dish and I got a steak. We both got salads and mashed potatoes.
After lunch we walked over to a nearby camera store (still worried about our Canon dying on us as we’ve used the heck out of it). We also went into a little Disney gift store. Lexi has requested a Disney Minnie Mouse headband (the one with the ears), that has sparkles and a bow. Hope we can find it. We should have just gotten it for her last year when she begged for it.
We drove down the road and looked at Beall’s Outlet, a Dollar Tree, and a luggage place. We ended up getting a backpack that we can put our computer into. I think it will be much more comfortable for the trip to Europe than trying to lug around the computer bag with the luggage. We’ll see.
We’re old and got tired out and ended up doing nothing exciting. Too cold to do much of anything outdoors. Anyway, that was our day. Hope yours was great!
