SVR to Vacation Village at Parkway, Orlando, Florida – 1/3/2015
JANUARY 3, 2015 (Saturday)
Moving day! Hate to leave this beautiful “home,” and resort, but it’s time to move on and the sun is shining so….gonna be a good day. The worst part was having to wake up at 8:00 AM. Hey, we’re retired and don’t like to get up that early, but we did and were out of the Sheraton Vistana Resort by 9:00 AM. We went by the Welcome Center and dropped off the keys and got our print-out showing we didn’t owe anything.
One thing we didn’t mention earlier in the week is that the Sheraton Vista Resort doesn’t allow outside vendors to deliver inside the resort. If you ordered food from an outside vendor, you had to physically go to the Welcome Center to get the outside food. Kinda defeats the purpose of having the food delivered. They have some places inside the resort that they prefer you to use (yea, more money for them). Anyway, just thought we’d mention that little tidbit we found interesting.
We left and went to Denny’s down the street for breakfast. This one wasn’t nearly as crowded as the one we went to a couple of weeks ago. We had our usual – senior fit fare omelette and coffee. As usual, yummy. Even more so today because the spinach and mushrooms tasted fresher. Excellent.
We left and knew it was still way too early to check into our new home. I asked to go shopping at a nearby Target Superstore. There are a few more things I want to get done and out of the way before we leave for the month. I also didn’t want to wait until the last minute to do them so thought today, having the time to spare, would be a good time to do it. Michael hates shopping so spent most of the time waiting in the car. He did track me down once in the store to ask me when I was going to be done. (That’s when I know he’s done and wants to leave.)
We left and went to the Vacation Village at Parkway. We stayed here last year and really liked them. This time, we found out we were in the B side, which is much smaller and the guy said no washer and dryer. Bummer but it’s only for two weeks so we can hang. We also had to do the “parking pass” thing and we’re scheduled for an “update” on Monday, at noon. We told them we did them before and he said it’s every six months so….
We got to our room and it’s very small but very cute. No dishwashing machine, no stove or oven, but it’s compact and colorful. I really like it and I think it’s growing on Michael. Great balcony with a lovely view. We’ve unpacked and are going through everything to try to figure out how we are going to pack for almost a month. We want to have it down way before we go in case we need to get another suitcase or something. Oh, and our room does have a washer and dryer! I’m happy. Even doing a load as we speak. The couch is so much more comfortable than the one at the Sheraton. Gonna be a nice two weeks. Not as spacious but very comfortable.
We have HBO here and just finished watching “Divergence.” Michael made a great linner of baked potato. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
