Holy Land Experience, Orlando, Florida – 1/2/2015
JANUARY 2, 2015 (Friday)
Another lazy morning (and part of the afternoon). We made a pasta dish that turned out good, and then we left around 4:30 PM.
We stopped first at the swimming pool near our home.
Next we left for Costco but I wanted to make a stop at a crocs outlet near the Costco. We drove about four miles out of our way and never found the outlet. I suspect it’s closed down or inside the Florida Mall.
We stopped at Costco and got gas ($2.13 a gallon). Once inside Costco, it wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be. I got a pair of sneakers and a pair of pants. Didn’t bother to try on either one as Costco is so wonderful about returning things that you don’t want or that don’t fit.
We left Costco and headed for the Holy Land Experience. It’s free until tomorrow night and we thought we’d be the only ones in the greater Orlando area who had the idea to go. What fools we were. Traffic was backed up for about half a mile and people were being very aggressive and trying to bully their way into the line that people had been waiting in for a long time (just because they didn’t want to wait). Michael and I were good and let people in (for about five minutes) and then saw what it was doing to everyone’s wait. It took about an hour to get to the parking area just a short drive away. Horrible. And it was all because people didn’t want to wait in the long line (like a nice person) and thought they could just push their way in. Oh well, I guess I’m not a good person because I was getting pretty ugly.
It was meant for us to go, though, because we got one of the very last parking spots left before they closed the lot. The Holy Land Experience was very much like Disney World but with a religious theme. Lots and lots of life sized animals, gladiators, angels, etc. There was a stage production going on with some beautiful singing and costumes. Large place with lots to see and it was sooooo crowded. People were just doing things they knew they weren’t supposed to do, especially the kids. I was going to get ugly with some of them so it was time to go. I’m glad we got to see it but I wouldn’t pay the $50.00 they usually charge.
We are now back in our home for our last evening. That was our day. Hope yours was great.
