Barefoot in the Keys, Kissimmee, Florida – 12/6/2014
DECEMBER 6, 2014 (Saturday)
Not real happy with the Holiday Inn. Not only did they charge an extra $10.00 (resort fee), but they called us at 7:00 AM this morning to see if we had reserved a cab (after staying up late). I think they were just messing with us because I was upset about the extra $10.00 fee that wasn’t listed on the Priceline page. If we had known about the extra fee, we could have gone somewhere else for the money. Oh well, no more Priceline Express Deals, Holiday Inns.
We stayed up last night and watched the Arizona Wildcats play the Oregon Ducks (go Ducks). Felt bad for Arizona. They beat the Ducks the last two times they played and were favored to win and the Ducks pounced them pretty bad. We had family that had flown down to Santa Clara to watch the game. I bet they had tons of fun.
We lazed around until check-out time (11:00 AM) and left. We drove over to a nearby Denny’s and had the same breakfast we had yesterday. Really crowded Denny’s but the breakfast was even better than yesterday. (Do you think we’re in a rut?)
We left Denny’s and went to our resort (yahoo – finally) which was less than half a mile away. We went to the check-in area and asked when we could get into our home. We were told we could get into it in about an hour, after they cleaned it. They were so nice, especially Boris. We decided to kill the hour by going down to the nearby Ross Dress For Less and get some shoes for me for the cruise, and a shirt for Michael. We found and got them (and a cute little shawl thing too). Love Ross. After that we went to a nearby luggage clearance center to look for the Rick Steves type belt that you wear under your clothing that can hold passports and money. We know there are lots of pick-pockets in Italy and had encountered them when we were there before. We like to make sure we’re as protected as we can be against thieves.
We got back to the resort, Barefoot in the Keys at around 2:00 PM. A nice young woman checked us in and then Boris walked us over to our unit. He said it was a nice one because it’s a ground floor but has a king sized bed. He said all the other ground floor units are queen size. He also said the door from the bedroom leads right to the swimming pool. It’s a lovely unit with a washer and dryer. We’re loving our new home! Don’t have to move for a week. We’re going to just chill and enjoy.
Originally we were thinking we would go out later to the local Publix Supermarket. Once we got into our “home” and got comfortable, we decided to just put on a pot of beans for dinner. They were delicious!
That was our day. Hope yours was great!
