Pearl River, Louisiana to Tallahassee, Florida – 12/1/2014

DECEMBER 1, 2014 (Monday)

A long, long day on the road made longer by another time change (EST). The drive today was from Pearl River, Louisiana to Tallahassee, Florida – a drive of a little less than 400 miles and took a little over six hours. We started off by gassing up in Pearl River, across the street from our hotel.

We topped off across the street before we hit the road.

Didn't make it inside.

Second gas up, down to one flashing square, only took 8 gallons in a 10 gallon tank. We think Toyota really does not want us running out of gas.

The car beeped and everything, acting like we'd run out of gas any second.

On the road, saw this hybird recumbent bike, very strange as I try to imagine a person on it.

And again in a little town called Chattahoochee, Florida (love the name, rolls off the tongue easily).

Right after we had left our hotel (and gassed up), we went to a placed called “Dirt Cheap” in Mississippi. Our niece had told us about it and we wanted to check it out. Quite a large store with deeply discounted items but many of the items were broken.  Sales were final so you had to be really careful and inspect everything. We looked around for awhile and then left.

Edie had to check out a store Tiff had told her about, and I really like the name of the town.

"Bloom County" always referred to newspaper articles in the Picayune Tribune. I loved it.

It is a huge store, everything is 30, 40 to 90 % off. We didn't find anything that would fit in the Prius that we had to have.

We also went into Moss Point, Mississippi, and lunch at a Wendy’s in Florida.

We cut cross country back to I 10 and views of water. There are so many elevated sections on I 10 it is remarkable.

We got into our hotel at around 5:30 PM (EST). Nice larger room for less than $50.00 a night at a Baymont Inn and Suites (includes internet and continental breakfast) . Not great internet for my computer (too old), but it works fine for Michael. After we got in and rested for awhile, we went out and found a Red Lobster Restaurant for dinner.

Oh yuck, another hotel/motel room.

Michael had fish and chips and I had a house margarita and an appetizer plate of coconut shrimp, regular shrimp, and seafood stuffed mushrooms. We were both full when we left to go back to our room for the night.

We will both be so glad to get into our new home on Saturday. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
