Lafayette to Slidell, Louisiana – 11/28/2014

November 28, 2014 (Friday)

Mike here.  It is a beautiful and cool day. We lounged around and left late. We were hungry and ate at a nearby Waffle House. It was good food and the best Waffle House experience we have had in our travels. It helped that as we entered there was a notice on the door that it was a smoke free environment.

Checking out of the Ramada, Edie stopped to smell the flowers.

It was around 11:30 and we wanted breakfast. We have had real mixed results with the Waffle House, thought we'd give them another chance.

I was fascinated watching the cook, no tags. He knew what to make because of where the waitress put the jelly pack on the empty plate. He had lots of orders and was flying with both hands.

We treated ourselves to a cup of coffee with cream and splenda.

The jelly pack tells the cook: hard, soft, over easy, scrambled, sausage, bacon, hash browns or grits. Amazing.

After breakfast we hit the road and continued listening to Laura Hillenbrands’ Unbroken, wow, such a story. We felt a part of World War II again.  The story is so compelling.

We think visiting.
We think visiting.

We got to Tiffany’s about 2 pm and had a nice visit until about 6:30. We really want to get to a resort and settle in for a week.  So looking forward to December 6th. Our room here at the Microtel in Pearl River is so very small.  We stayed here last year and don’t remember it being so small.

Got to Niece Tiffay's.
