November 23, 2014 (Sunday)
Mike here. We decided to push the check out, which was 12 noon so we can catch up on the blog. Got all caught up and checked out with 15 minutes to spare.
Woke up to sunshine and blue skies.
The courtyard is a nice place, but we spent the morning getting the last four blog posts out.
Not a resort, but not bad.
Arizona, lots of palm trees.
Gassed up at a QuikTrip.
Good to go, 2.55 a gallon.
A mostly uneventful drive to Las Cruces, New Mexico. Edie did the lion’s share of driving. We had our last In-N-Out for brunch in Tucson and a quick bite when we got into Las Cruces, New Mexico.
We worked until 11:45 and then drove for an hour. We decided this would be the last one of these for several months, So…Brunch.
They have it down. All look the same, recipes identical in everyone, and always busy all the time.
We each got a hamburger, medium fries and a drink. Straight out of the 1950’s and so tasty.
Beautiful sand paintings on the slopes of the overpasses.
Dramatic mountains east of Phoenix.
Colorful graphics on some freeway sound walls.
Shot this over my left shoulder without the viewfinder, through the back window.
Centennial sign.
Nice graphics.
The landscape changed to rolling hills.
The cactus changed to prickly pear.
We could not believe how many traffic stops we saw in New Mexico. Do not speed in New Mexico. They raise a lot of revenue through ticketing speeders.
Driving into a rough head wind we got horrible gas mileage (44 mpg) and stopped for gas again.
Still love the Prius, though it is sipping heavy in the head winds.
The signs led us to believe that great dust storms can rage through this area.
Warning signs.
Wind was blowing lots of tumble weeds.
Don’t speed in New Mexico, had to be the 5th one.
Interesting landscape.
Got in, grabbed a quick bite, and checked into the LaQuinta.
Entry area.
Pretty woman looking out at our car.
Work table.
Nice bathroom.
Comfortable beds.
We are off to Alamogordo tomorrow.
That was our day, hope yours was great.
