Got up and out (after morning tea and oatmeal) around 11:00 AM. We stopped for gas in Columbia Falls ($3.20 gallon) and then headed back to Glacier National Park.

We took the Going to the Sun Road all the way to where it was gated off and closed. Bummed we weren’t able to get over to the other side – but will have to come back when we know it will be open. We stopped at the end of the line and went to the bathroom and then walked down to the river. So beautiful.
On the way back we stopped at several turnouts and walked around. We discovered beautiful waterfalls and a great wooden bridge. We then went around the other side of the park to the end of the paved road (about 15 miles). We stopped at all the places where they had information to read (about the huckleberries, about the fires, about the meadows, etc.). Very interesting. The weather today was beautiful but chilly – about 43 degrees. The weather is expected to get really bad (with rain and snow) later today.

We stopped at the grocery store in Columbia Falls on the way “home” and got a few things for dinner. We also stopped at the registration office to make sure we weren’t being charged for a second unit. We were told we weren’t being charged, but to check with RCI, which we will do.
When we got “home,” Michael made the best chili! So warm and yummy. He also included German potato salad, rolls, and a nice glass of wine. Great meal. Michael said we’ll be having chili for breakfast, lunch, and dinner until we leave.
That was our lovely and relaxing day. Hope yours was great!
