Glacier National Park, Montana – 10/27/2014
OCTOBER 27, 2014 (Monday)
We both woke up early. What’s up with that? We’re retired and can sleep in. Don’t like being up at 6:00 AM. Oh well, got to sit and watch the beauty around us. Around 8:30 AM or so, Michael called to try to get an appointment with the ortho doctor he was referred to. They were so nice and were able to get him in today at 1:00 PM.
We sat around and had breakfast and finalized some plans for March and April. RCI is having an Extra Vacations Sale, $209 a week. (We really like to book up as far in advance as we can during these sales.) We decided to go North and visit friends in Iowa and Wisconsin. We are also going to go to St. Louis and Chicago. Should be fun. Only wished Oprah was still on in Chicago. I loved her and always wanted to go see her. Oh well. Will just enjoy seeing other things there. Anyone have any must see or do?
We left around 11:00 AM and headed to Glacier National Park.
It’s only about 20 miles from our “home.” So beautiful. We drove along the Going to the Sun Road until Michael got nervous and wanted to head back down for the doctor’s appointment in Kalispell. We did get to see McDonald Lake, McDonald Lodge, a deer, and lots of beautiful scenery. Looking forward to exploring more in the upcoming days. The weather was sunny, then overcast. The temperature was 45 but it felt a little cooler to us Californians.
We got to the doctor in Kalispell right on time (1:00 PM).
What a nice doctor and people in the office. Dr Kim Stimpson examined Michael’s knee, looked at the x-ray, and declared he thought it was bursitis. Poor Michael has a few more days (hopefully no longer) of his pain and suffering and then it should go away. The doctor didn’t think it was infected, which is good.
We left and went to a nearby Panda Express for lunch. We both had half and half (half rice, half noodles), walnut shrimp, and orange chicken. Yummy. We were both very hungry. After lunch we went to the Dollar Tree to get a few little things we needed (spices, sandwich bags). No sales tax in Montana (just like Oregon).
We are now back in our “home,” tired and full tummies. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
