Gardnerville, Nevada – 9/4/2014

SEPTEMBER 4, 2014 (Thursday)

Slept very comfortably and cool. Got up to what Pat and Sharon called a “light breakfast” – cereal, orange juice, cinnamon toast, coffee. Glad it was light.

Michael had received word back from another prison friend who lives very close to Pat and Sharon. We had been wanting them to meet each other since they live so close. Anyway, we made arrangements to have Richard and Catherine come by Pat and Sharon’s house around 11:00 AM. When they did arrive, we all climbed into Richard’s huge SUV and drove to Gardnerville to JT’s Basque Restaurant.

We had been to JT’s Basque Restaurant with Pat and Sharon a year or so ago and really enjoyed it. Great food with lots of it. Also, you get a choice of main meat (which a lot of Basque restaurants don’t have). Was fun catching up with them on the ride over (about half an hour trip). Michael, Pat, Catherine and I got the top sirloin steak, Sharon got the chicken, and Richard got the lamb. Could not believe all the food – bread, soup, salad, beans, lamb stew, french fries, main meat dish, wine, ice cream. Everything was really good. (The place was busy so you know it’s good.) Again, we sat around until about 2:00 PM just catching up, and Sharon and Catherine realized they had several friends in common.

We got home and Richard and Catherine left and we just kind of blobbed around, full but not overly so. Got another good visit in with Pat and Sharon. While we were talking, Richard called and mentioned having vegetables if we wanted them. We didn’t (since we’re leaving for Utah tomorrow), but Sharon said she would take them. Richard said if we wanted them we had to pick them. Pat and Sharon had to get ready for their square dance, so Michael and I headed over to Richard and Catherine’s. What a lovely home and a great garden. We listened to epic battles with nature (bunny rabbits) over the food. We picked a few tomatoes, some green beans, a zucchini, and some spices. Nothing better than fresh! Hope Sharon and Pat enjoy.

After our picking we went inside for a short visit. Such nice people. So glad they finally got to meet Pat and Sharon – and hope they keep in touch.
