Ashland, Oregon to Prunedale, California – 8/15/2014
AUGUST 15, 2014 (Friday)
Happy birthday Arla!
Left the hotel around 10:00 AM. Before we had left I had gone to the hospitality area and gotten us some breakfast – tiny little muffins, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee and orange juice.
The drive today is long – about 8 hours to home, around 430 miles. Lots of smoke in the skies from different fires going on. Michael and I were very surprised at how much further Shasta Lake had gone down in the two weeks since we drove up. We also saw fire trucks and paramedic trucks that had been at fires getting to head back home (Riverside and Santa Barbara Counties).
We stopped in Walnut Creek for gas ($4.05). Traffic was horrible but we managed to get in a quick stop at Aaron and Arla’s. We dropped off her Old Dutch Ketchup potato chips that she loves and can’t get in the United States. (It is her birthday after all.) Was good to see them and the grand puppies.
Traffic down to Prunedale was horrible. It is car week at Pebble Beach with the concours d’elegance drawing all kinds of car enthusiasts. In addition to the traffic for that, there was some kind of accident that had everything backed up. We got into town around 7:00 PM and stopped at La Tapatia to get dinner (nachos and burritos).
That was our long day. Hope yours was great!
