San Jose, California – 7/21/2014

San Jose, California July 21, 2014 Monday

Edie is apparently on vacation today as well.  Kind of a big day for me, one of those stepping over the line moments.  I filled out the paperwork to complete my enrollment into Medicare.  Dang, 65 years go by fast!  Edie and I went to a CalPers office in San Jose to make it official.

I could have done it through the mail but I really wanted someone to hold my hand and reassure me that Edie, Aaron and Lex would still have coverage once I went on Medicare.  Mission accomplished and I was assured that their insurance stays the same.  Nice people all, very helpful and knowledgeable.

When in these buildings I always feel like I am in a giant rat maze and I am the rat.

We left and Edie was hungry.  I asked her where she wanted to eat.  She remembered a place that was a favorite of hers and a good friend from 30 years ago, they would make special runs to eat at the Bold Knight.  She remembered it being on First street, she and good friend, Pepper, would drive 45 miles for the cheese fondue and a steak.  We went driving and before long found it.  She was waffling on whether or not to eat there and I was already determined to see one of her old haunts from her youthful single days.

We found it!

We went inside and enjoyed all the  knight based themed decorations that were throughout the place.  It was fun looking and well appointed.  Edie did not remember it looking like it does today.  She is sure it has changed hands many times.

I had fish and chips, Edie had a tuna and avocado salad, we had cheese fondue for an appetizer.  Edie thought it was different when she and Pepper had it all those years ago.  It was all good though.  A little spendy but nice overall.

We drove home, went to Walmart for some of my medications and had a very light dinner.
