Reno, Nevada to Prunedale, California – 7/19/2014

JULY 19, 2014 (Saturday)

We were out of our home by 9:30 AM. We drove along the river a ways and then go on I-80 and headed to Auburn and had breakfast at a Denny’s. Michael had eggs in a basket and I had an egg, hash browns, and two slices of bacon. We both had coffee. Was very good. Nice people who work there.

Earlier in the week I had emailed one of my best friends (for over 50 years) to see if they were going to be home. She had emailed me back and said they would be. She and her sister (another best friend) live in Rocklin. We got there a little after noon and it was so wonderful to see them. It’s been a little over a year since I last saw them (I think). Got to see Carolyn, Marilyn, Marilyn’s husband Bill, Carolyn’s husband Chris, and two of the cutest grandkids ever. Got a nice visit in with everyone but wish it could have been longer. We’re hoping to see them again in a couple of weeks when we head up to Oregon.

Traffic was pretty bad going down Interstate 80, but luckily mostly on the other side of the freeway. We saw some kind of vehicle fire that had it backed up at one point. The other backups, we couldn’t figure out what was going on.

Could not see through the oleander what the source of the flame and smoke was.

We got home around 6:30 PM. When we got home we got to see the cute little puppy that Lexi had found alongside the road a couple of days ago. She had found it a home and was on her way to give it away.

That was our day. Hope yours was great!
