O – Bellagio, Las Vegas, Nevada 5/14/2014

MAY 14, 2014 (Wednesday)

Got up, had breakfast. We just read and watched TV until about noon. We left and went to the Silverton Casino to use up our free buffet coupons.

On the way out, I was reminded not to complain about washing windows at home.

The Seasons Buffet was excellent. I think the best one we’ve been to in all the casinos. They had a Mexican food area, Asian food, Italian (make your own pasta station), carving station, great salad and fresh fruit area, and a wonderful dessert area where they actually scoop up your real ice cream. The eating area itself is lovely with waterfalls and beautiful scenery. The normal price for lunch is only about $10.00. Highly, highly recommend it. After lunch we also gambled for awhile. Michael played craps and won a little. I played slots and won a little.

Edie had a pasta plate prepared for herself, I got a taste and it was delicious.

Around 3:00 PM, we headed to the strip to get our tickets for “O.” We found the self parking garage at the Bellagio, went inside, and finally found the conservatory where the flowers are stunning. So beautiful and it smells so great there. Next time we’re in Las Vegas we want to eat in the restaurant that opens up to the conservatory. What an aroma and sight to behold. Loved it.

Usually right about now I yell at Edie saying, "DO NOT RUN AWAY WITH THE CAMERA THIS TIME!!!" The look of panic on their faces is too funny.

We went to the box office and got our tickets for tonight’s show. Right next to the box office is a fine art gallery with sculpture from Richard Macdonald. We found out Richard Macdonald is the artist for cirque du soleil, and that he’s from Carmel and has done sculpture there for many years. He’s also been commissioned to do the art work for the London Museum. Loved his pieces. We resolved to go seek out his gallery in Carmel when we get back.

We decided to do a little more gambling. We were down a little and then Michael and I went to another area and he picked out a machine. Like I said earlier, he plays different than I do. He scares me because he plays to win and I just play to play. Anyway, he picked out the machine and told me to play the maximum, which I did. After just a few pulls, we won. It was wonderful. Now we’re even for the losses the other day. Like it when we break even. The next time Michael talked to the kids he told them that we had won their inheritance back.

We walked and went outside to walk around and watch the fountains. So calming and you can actually feel the temperature drop while they’re on. Also loved watching the street performers. We saw two Elvis impersonators, some little yellow people, and one incredible woman who was sitting in air. Never could figure out how she did it.

We went back into the Bellagio and into the showroom. O started right on time (7:30 PM) and it was fascinating. Couldn’t figure out how they turned the diving pool into the floor and then back into a pool. And so many of the performers went into the water and just never came up again. There was so much going on it was hard to focus on any one thing. Loved it much more than Mystere, but it was still a little weird as I didn’t know the story line or couldn’t figure out the story line.

We stopped at the South Point Casino on the way home as I wanted to find the machine I played last night and try it again. We found it but it wasn’t as good to me so I went to another machine and broke even. Michael also got me a milk shake. Good day.
