South Point Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada 5/13/2014

MAY 13, 2014 (Tuesday)

Another beautiful warm day. Little windy but not too bad.

We got up a little early for us and walked over to the South Point Casino. We went to breakfast at the Del Mar Deli (used a 15% coupon). Michael got an egg bagel, and I got a cream cheese toasted bagel. We both got much needed coffee.

This has a real New York Deli feel to it and the food is very tasty.

After breakfast we went over to the craps table in time to take the 10:15 AM lesson on how to play craps. The man giving the lesson, Jerry, was very good but I still can’t figure it out. Too much for my brain. Michael understands it all though and is really wanting to play. We were each given a $5.00 match coupon to play and I’m sure he’ll use it before we leave.

Our lesson at a crap table. After I took the photo a very nice security guy came and told me there was to be no photos in the gaming area. Oh.

After our lesson (about an hour), we walked upthe stairs to the Cinemark Theaters and figured out which movie we wanted to see. Tuesdays are $5.00 day all day. We decided on “Heaven is For Real.” (It was between “Heaven is For Real” and “The Amazing Spiderman.”)  It was a real tear jerker but good movie. Would recommend it. It’s one of those where you like it more the longer you think and ponder on it. (We also used our free small popcorn coupon for this movie.)

Off to the movies.

Michael had called into his doctor’s office in the morning to have the pharmacy tech call in his prescription to WalMart. He got a text that the prescription was ready so we drove to WalMart and got it, along with some milk and things for the car (Kleenex, wipes). When we got back “home,” we both took a nap. Felt good.

After we had rested (we are old after all and need our daily naps), we were trying to figure out what we wanted to do. There was a show in the Showroom called Motown that we were thinking of going to, but we ended up walking back over to the South Point and going to dinner at Zenshin. We had tempura shrimp and vegetables, tempura vegetable rolls, and a rice bowl. Very good. Our server, Rory, did an excellent job. (We used our 10% off coupon for dinner.) We then walked up the stairs and went to 8:00 PM showing of “Transcendence.” It starred Johnny Depp. It was okay, not great.

When the movie was over (around 10:00 PM), we went back downstairs to Zenshin and had dessert – a tempura banana split. It was excellent. Michael and I split it and we could not finish it. We had Rory again, and again he was exceptional. Nice restaurant. Wanted to take him home for Lexi.

The banana was piping hot so it worked best to have ice cream on the spoon with the banana. It was as good as it looks.

Michael wanted to try craps so I begged $5.00 and told him I would gamble while he did his craps thing. We found a machine where he knew he could find me and I started playing. The machine was so fun and would do things on its own for several minutes while I just sat back and enjoyed the credits piling up. I ended up winning. Always a good thing. Michael decided not to play craps and went to another machine nearby. He also won. Good night.

That was our day. Hope yours was great!
