Gary Puckett – Las Vegas, Nevada 5/10/2014
MAY 10, 2014 (Saturday)
Slept really well. The bed was so comfortable and the curtains blacked out all the sunlight so we were able to sleep until about 9:00 AM. When we did get up, we made tea, had breakfast, got on the computer, and just lazed around until around 11:00 AM. We left to go to garage sales but we had to stop and get cash first. We found a Von’s Grocery Store to get the cash. It was funny because they only had a $100.00 bill, no $20.00 bills. The store part said they didn’t have any $20.00 but the casino part had change. Michael cashed it in the casino part of the store and played one bet at one slot machine and won $10.00.
We went to several garage sales and saw lots of nice stuff – that we didn’t need. We did purchase a small mirror for the master bedroom, and a clock with a picture frame. Still looking for a set of dishes, which I know we’ll find eventually.
When we were done with garage sales, we drove to the South Point Casino. Since Michael had won the money earlier at Von’s Grocery Store, I felt he was hot and had him gamble. The way he gambles scares me as he plays maximum bet. Anyway, suffice it to say he wasn’t hot any more. We then went and had linner at Baja Miguel’s, in South Point Casino. I got a free margarita with my chicken taco salad. Michael got albondiga soup (we shared) and a burrito. (They make really good soup here.) He saved half the burrito for dinner later tonight after the Gary Puckett & the Union Gap show. After linner we went back home and took a nap. Was nice.
Around 6:15 PM, we walked across the street to the South Point Casino. It was early so I gambled a little bit more (no luck) and then around 6:30 PM went into the Showroom to wait for Gary Puckett to start. I had purchased the tickets when we were here last month (using my 20% discount coupon from the Grandview Resort) so the seats were quite good. We got to talking to a really nice lady, Sherry, and her husband, Paul.
They know Gary and his wife and went to Australia with them. Was fun to talk to someone who knows them. She pointed out Gary’s wife, introduced us to his drummer and his keyboard man.
Too fun. Such nice people. Hope to see them again at another Gary Puckett concert. It was a wonderful concert.
We’re hoping to be able to get tickets for tomorrow’s performance. After the show we waited in line to buy a CD and have Gary sign it. He was in no rush with any of his fans. Such a nice guy. His wife is gorgeous and was showing off pictures of their grandson. So cute.
That was our day. Hope yours was great!
