MAY 1, 2014 (Thursday)

Happy May Day!

Got up early for me (around 8:00 AM). Wanted to get more visiting in before leaving, which we did until around 10:00 AM.

Said our goodbyes, hugged, and were both on the road by 10:00 AM. My first stop was Starbucks to get some coffee. I tried something different because the white chocolate mocha has the most calories. I tried a vanilla coffee drink that was okay but I still want the white chocolate mocha (without the calories). I also got an old fashioned donut (because I saved so many calories on my coffee).

The drive down the hill was just as pretty as the drive up. The drive today was into Walnut Creek (about 120 miles) for my yearly eye doctor appointment. I have a mole in my left eye that a specialist has been tracking for several years. So far so good, it hasn’t grown or done anything to be overly concerned about. Michael and Aaron drove from Santa Clara. We met up around noon to have lunch before switching vehicles and Aaron heading back home in the Prius.

The place Michael wanted to have lunch at (Chipotle in downtown Walnut Creek) was just too crowded and no parking anywhere close. I drove a little ways and found a strip mall that had several little restaurants to choose from. I met Michael and Aaron there. Aaron wanted to go to the Persian restaurant called the Kabob House. It was pretty good. Michael had the chicken kabob lunch special, Aaron had the lamb kabob special, and I had hummus. Everything was good, and the bread was exceptionally good (fresh and warm).

Kind of a strip mall in Walnut Creek, one of the few places that had open parking spaces.

After lunch, we still had a little time to kill before my 1:30 PM appointment, so we walked over to a little thrift store in the strip mall. They had some really fun things. Aaron got something, and I saw a picture and the cutest kitty bookends that I just had to have. Michael accused me of knowing exactly how much cash he had in his wallet. Nice store. Aaron said he and Arla come over to Walnut Creek because Arla’s dad and stepmother live there.

We said our goodbyes to Aaron (and the Prius) and went to my eye doctor’s appointment.

They did the usual – dilated my eyes, checked my eye, took pictures of my eye. The guy who did the pictures said the doctor would do an ultrasound (which I hate), but the doctor said no (yahoo). So weird to have an ultrasound of your eyeball. We were on the road by 3:00 PM and were able to use the diamond lane much of the way. The traffic was bad, however, in some spots (as usual). We were home by 4:30 PM.

Michael and Lexi went into town to take the truck in to have the oil leak fixed. Michael loves his truck. Lexi picked him up and drove him back home. They said they needed it until Saturday. Michael also stopped by In N Out to get me dinner. After dinner we just watched TV, caught up on the computer, and just lazed. I fell asleep during Elementary, which was a bummer because I really wanted to watch it but Michael told me what happened.

That was our day. Hope yours was great!
