Las Vegas, Nevada 4/2/2014

APRIL 2, 2014 (Wednesday)

Rained pretty hard in the afternoon today, along with the winds and cold.

Up until the evening it was totally ladies day. Lexi and I got up and out by around 11:00 AM. We drove a little ways to the Las Vegas Outlet Mall. First off, we stopped and had lunch. We stopped in the food court and decided on pretzels. I had a pretzel dog and she had pretzel bites. It was pretty good. Once we were done eating it was all about the shopping. Our mission today was to get Lexi some clothing for job interviews and work.

We went to a few stores in the mall but Lexi didn’t like anything. We happened on New York & Company and she found everything she needed and they all looked really good on her. We had help by two of the best sales people in the store – Brenda and Carolina. They would fetch new clothes and insist she try on things they brought her. I think she liked their perspective since Carolina was close to Lexi’s age. When we left she bought something like two sweaters, seven blouses, and two pair of pants. The only thing she needs now is a pair of comfortable shoes.

We were tired by the time we left. I had surprised Lexi with a massage today at Massage Envy. (They were having an introductory promotion for $49.00.) We plugged in the address and headed that way. Was surprised that it was almost 25 miles away. Traffic was a little backed up but we got there in plenty of time to get a drink from the grocery store and do some shopping at Pleyto’s Closet.

Our massage appointment was for 3:00 PM. We arrived a few minutes early and filled out all the paperwork. Our therapists arrived right on time and introduced themselves and then off we went into our separate rooms. The therapist went over where and what we wanted done and then she had me get undressed and under the blankets. She did an excellent job of working the kinks out. I felt so much more relaxed when she was done almost an hour later. Lexi said she really enjoyed her massage too. She said the last time we had a massage was in 2009 when we went to New York together.

We left and drove back home around 4:30 PM. We knew we’d be leaving for Treasure Island to eat at the buffet and then see Mystere around 7:00 PM. We wanted to eat and have plenty of time to enjoy before the 9:30 PM showing we were ticketed to see. We tried to get into the 7:30 PM showing but all the tickets were sold out.  We decided to take a little rest before getting ready. We left right on schedule, at 7:00 PM. The traffic was horrible going to the strip.

Before we went into the buffet, we wanted to go to the bathroom. On the way into the bathroom Lexi said she saw the dark haired coach from Glee (Dot Jones).  I kinda laughed and said sure. When we saw her waiting in the bathroom and looked at her, she smiled and said, “yes, I’m her.” When we saw her again in the corridor, she was kind enough to take a picture with Lexi – even though she wanted to stay incognito.

The line into the buffet was horrible. Took about twenty minutes to get a table. We got the buffet free with the Mystere tickets we had gotten with the timeshare presentation. The buffet would normally cost $25.95 a person. (More than we spent on the seafood buffet.)  They had all kinds of stations set up – German area, pasta area (yummy lobster ravioli), a place where they make you a salad, a regional area, sushi area, and a dessert area. I’m sure I’m missing something but – it was huge and I thought it was pretty good. Also, for $12.50 you can get all you can drink wine or beer with dinner.

We finished a little early so we went gambling. We each lost $5.00 quickly and then headed for the huge line into the Mystere theater. Going into the theater was interesting as they had beautiful things to look at. The show was fascinating and weird. Could not figure out what was happening but figured it had something to do with a baby’s dream and that’s why it was so confusing. The acrobatics were more than fantastic and awesome. I especially loved the lady who worked the scarves so beautifully. So much going on all over the place, was hard to focus on anything. We all enjoyed it and Lexi thought it was better than The Jersey Boys. Didn’t ever think anything would top The Jersey Boys for her. So glad she liked it so much.
