Muldrow, Oklahoma to Amarillo, Texas 3/19/2014

MARCH 19, 2014 (Wednesday)

Woke up to cold and wind. Our eyes and noses are going crazy, especially Michael’s, because of all the pollens flying around (we think).

Hated to leave Uncle Claude and Aunt Gail but sure don’t want them getting sick from us. They had to leave around 8:00 AM to go to the doctor. We didn’t get to see them before we left our motel just around the corner from their home. We hit the road around 10:00 AM and drove a little ways before we stopped for breakfast at Braum’s. We love Braum’s. To me it’s as good as In and Out. I had a muffin breakfast, Lexi had biscuits and gravy, and Michael had a breakfast burrito. Everything was good (as usual). We also got gas ($3.40 gallon).

The drive today was from Muldrow, Oklahoma to Amarillo, Texas – about 420 miles. It took about seven hours. We stopped for breakfast, gas, lunch, gas, and a potty stop at a really neat rest area somewhere in Texas. I know it was Texas because of the huge star shaped walls. It was a short distance past the 12 stations of the cross statuary in Texas.

We got to our hotel (Microtel Inn and Suites – Skyauction – $74.06) around 6:30 PM. The room is clean and large enough for all of us. After we got settled in, we went a couple of blocks down the street and ate dinner at IHOP. Michael had a chicken pasta, Lexi had a Philly cheese sandwich, and I had a talipia dinner. We all liked our food but Lexi was disappointed because their waffle maker was broken and they didn’t have any soup. The wait staff didn’t seem all that interested in working (except one hard worker cleaning the windows), but we did see them all bunched up and playing with straws on their faces.

We are now back in our hotel and ready for a good night’s sleep. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
