Harrisonburg, Virginia 3/6/2014

MARCH 6, 2014 (Thursday)

Pretty lazy and laid back day for us. Tonight we’re going to be packing up and staging our stuff to leave for Gatlinburg early in the morning. Also, we got a call from Gatlinburg about an upgrade. We had called earlier in the week and paid for an upgrade to a two bedroom (online we could only get a one bedroom). Anyway, they called back and put us into a three bedroom, and they said it was in the newer section. Looking forward to our new “home.”

We got moving and went into Harrisonburg. Lexi wanted some sushi. We found a lovely placed called Kyoto. They had a great lunch special (which I got) and Lexi got her sushi. She said it was really good. Must have been good because she ate it all.  My food was excellent. This place is a lot like a Benihani in that it’s a meal but the cook does a show while he’s making your dinner. He made a volcano out of stacked onions, a beating heart out of the rice, and several other things that were fun and entertaining. (Michael had already eaten and went to get gas while we ate ($3.19 a gallon).

We took our kids to Kyoto when they we little. So beautiful, all the temples, ponds, gardens and rock gardens. I kept yelling at Lex, "Don't kick the rocks!"

After lunch we drove around the old area of town and then went to Ross Dress for Less. I found a cute blouse and the purse I’ve been looking for. I wanted to get it in New York but this one is the color and style I wanted, plus it was cheaper than the purses in New York. (Michael opted to stay in the car – again – while we shopped.) When we got back out, the Prius battery had died (like it did in Key West a few months back). We called AAA (thank goodness we have them) and they came out very quickly and we were on our way within half an hour.

We love this car and it's reliability, but consider it a design flaw to have the little starter battery go dead so easy with the big bank of batteries full of loads of electricity.

We are now back “home” for our last night here. I’m doing laundry right now. Michael is reading. Lexi is planning ahead. That was our day. Hope yours was great!
