Toms River, New Jersey, 2/27/2014
FEBRUARY 27, 2014 (Thursday)
Michael woke up and his foot was feeling much better. So glad. The weather was cold and weird. Wind, snow flurries, sun, grey, cold, more wind. I don’t think the East Coast weather can decide what to do.
We left around 11:30 AM to get to the Manahawken, New Jersey Costco to get Michael’s glasses. Robert, the man behind the counter, did an excellent job of sizing them. Michael said he’s never not had the glasses pressing into his large head. After we got the glasses, we looked around a little, then decided to have lunch. Michael got a slice of cheese pizza and I got the hot dog.
From Costco, we knew we were early but we headed towards Gateway Toyota, in Toms River. They got us right in and we only had a wait of about an hour. To top it off, they washed our car! How good is that!
We took Highway 9 back towards Brigandine (per Miss Marty’s help), but didn’t see much upset caused by Sandy along the coast. We did see one yacht type boat that was up on the side of the beach, and another older boat that had been totally beached. Michael said he saw a lot of new roofs, but I couldn’t tell a new roof from a twenty year old roof. The drive was very slow and crowded (non toll road). Along the drive (don’t know where), we stopped for gas and a bathroom stop.
We stopped again in Brigandine at Goochie Brothers for dinner. Michael and I had the penne pasta with marinara sauce, salad, and bread; and Lexi got a pizza. Everything was excellent but way too much food.
Tonight it’s all about packing up and getting ready to move to Virginia tomorrow. I debated about doing laundry but will wait and do it (for free) in Virginia.
That was our day. Hope yours was great!
