Mike here, Edie is really really getting spoiled. Another lazy day. We are almost fully recuperated from New York. I got up early for us, 8 am, and ventured out. I drove to a Costco about 38 miles away. My eyeglasses broke in NYC, so I wanted them repaired.  Also, I needed to get the tires rotated on the Prius.

It has been a beautiful blue day with high winds and deceptive temperatures. I wore shorts, regretted it when I got out of the car. The Costco in Manahawkin, NJ was very slow, I mean like maybe 20 people when it opened at 10 am. I was the first one in for the rotation. I asked the kind gentleman to estimate how much tread I had left.

My friend, and neighbor in California, Bill has a rough commute, I think 62 miles in one direction, 5 days a week. Bill told me to buy a set of tires at Costco, have my car aligned right after I buy the tires, and rotate the tires faithfully every 7,000 miles. He said the tires never last through the warranty and if I have proof of rotation and alignment, I will get a deeply discounted second set of tires. I decided to try it. I bought tires that had an 80,000 mile warranty. I had the car aligned and have faithfully had the tires rotated.  I went to the optometrist section and they ordered a new frame which should be in on Thursday. They used a crazy glue to temporarily repair my glasses until my lenses are put into the new frames. I received a call from the tire guy and he told me I needed new tires, that the wear bar was showing. So I put a new set of tires at full price on the beast and called it good since I had gotten 91,000 miles out of the old set. The lesson I draw is keep the car aligned and rotate the tires!

I stopped at the local grocery store, ACME and picked up a few things and have spent a quiet day with wife and daughter.
